“ISRAEL SECURITY BRIEFING” BY THE FOREIGN PRESS SPOKESMAN FOR THE ISRAELI POLICE
The Jewish National Fund of Manitoba and Saskatchewan is honoured to welcome to Winnipeg Chief Inspector Micky Rosenfeld, the Foreign Press Spokesman for the Israeli Police. Mr. Rosenberg will offer a Security Briefing and update of the current situation in Israel on September 12 at 7pm at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue.
Micky Rosenfeld moved with his family to Jerusalem in 1987 when he was 16. After finishing High School, he went into the army, in the Givati infantry brigade, specializing in training and operations. At 22, Rosenfeld joined the Yamam, the elite Israel National Police Counter – Terrorism Unit from 1995 to 2005, during which time he took a first degree in Middle Eastern studies and a second in business management, and also worked with the Foreign Ministry.
In 2005 he was offered the position of spokesman to the foreign press for the Israeli Police. By 2008 he had been promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector. Every terror or criminal related incident in Israel lands eventually on Superintendent Rosenfeld’s desk. Always in the eye of the storm, Micky’s job is to communicate and explain extremely complex situations in a calm and understandable manner. In order to perform his job it became essential for him his operational experience of the scene as his understanding of the international perspective.
Israel works with Interpol and police forces from Britain to America. “Our focus is on making sure we are one step ahead”.
The foreign press, he says, “knows exactly what is going on. The Israel police works fast and furious, but accurately, wherever they can. We ensure that everything is instantaneous and online – and all the security organizations work together, so that there are no gaps in knowledge or response. Every operation has to be explained, and it is critical to do it. My duty and that of all the police is to protect Israel and its citizens.”
