JNF Canada is protecting the Western Negev with lifesaving trees.
People living in the area bordering on Gaza are exposed to rocket and missile attacks, whether within the boundaries of their communities or while driving along local roads, including to and from their fields. To rectify this situation, KKL-JNF are planting trees that serve as strategic, green buffers and camouflage, protecting residents and visitors from rocket and missiles. The project involves plantings along the western boundaries of western Negev roads and communities. Development elements include land reclamation, drainage, plantings and irrigation. The shrubs screen the lower areas and the tree canopies, the higher ones. In addition, the planting of tree species attractive to bees aids in increasing the production of honey and supporting the local economy.
